What we do

SOURCE OF HOPE FOR BETTER DAYS FOR POOR GIRLS WHO ARE AT RISK.

Nepal is a small Asian country where around 30 million people live. Different cultural aspects influence the precarious way in which Nepalese society treats women. In pregnancy and in the family, the greatest expectation is to have a boy, as he is seen as a blessing from the gods, as opposed to a girl who is seen as a burden. Many of them are given away for teenage marriage and stories of abuse are very common. The devaluation of women associated with the abandonment of daughters by their families makes the rate of human trafficking in Nepal alarming. It is estimated that 15,000 girls become victims each year.

Today 22 girls between the ages of 10 and 20 are assisted by the Home of Joy Project. They have the chance to study at good schools with all education costs, including enrollment fees, tuitions, uniforms and school supplies, paid for by the project. After classes, they come to the project's house, where they have a hearty and balanced meal and have tutoring, music, computer, and language classes, as well as recreational activities and small technical courses. They also receive medical assistance and help with food for their families whenever they need it.
